The Darling ‘Barrel’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2011

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 18-Aug-2014
Full, brilliant straw-yellow colour with slight green hues. The bouquet is elegantly expressed with fresh and intense aromas of lifted exotic floral, ripe green stonefruits and tropical fruits, herbs and lantana, unfolding a grassy vitality in the glass. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, delicately juicy flavours of stonefruits, herbs and lantana form an elegant core supported by a fine thread of phenolic textures providing excellent line. The fruit sweetness is balanced by lacy acidity which enhances the aromatics. The wine flows with good energy, the wine carrying through to a long, dry finish with nuances of stonefruits and herbs. This is an elegant, subtly rich oak-influenced Sauvignon Blanc with freshness and vitality. Match with seafood, salads and vegetables over the next 2-3 years. Fruit from the ‘Antipode’ estate, Fareham Lane, fully barrel-fermented by indigenous yeasts in seasoned oak to 13.5% alc. and 3 g/L RS, the wine aged 9 months on lees in barrel. Certified BioGro organic. 18.0+/20 Aug 2014 RRP $28.00
