The Crusher Petite Sirah 2017, California

Petite Sirah from USA
Review Date : 25-Aug-2020
Deep, inky ruby-red with some depth, lighter on the rim in crimson. The nose is vibrant, fruit aromas of blueberries, boysenberries, blackberry jam have a good core, melded with nutty oak and spice element. Full-bodied, an amalgam of berry fruit flavours are ripe, almost jammy and succulent, enriched by nutty almonds and oak spices. The mouthfeel is grippy with ripe tannin extraction, lifting the body and weight. The fruit is juicy and ripe, straight-forward and generous, have good intensity; the right amount of acid lingers and elevate it to a sustained finish. This is a likeable full-bodied, juicy red with berry fruit flavours and a grippy tannin mouthfeel. Match with barbeque meat over the next 3-5 years. 83% Petite Sirah, 6% Tempranillo, 6% Merlot, 3% Zinfandel, 2% Syrah. Fermented to 14.5% alc. Aged in 60% French oak, 20% Hungarian oak, and 20% American oak, 40% new oak. 18.5-/20 pts Aug 2020 RRP $30
