The Crusher ‘Grower’s Selection’ Clarksburg Petite Sirah 2014

Other Red from USA
Review Date : 13-Jan-2017
Full, dark, deep, near-saturated purple-hued black-red colour. The bouquet is well-concentrated and packed with aromas of ripe black-berried and blueberry fruit entwined with notes of dark raspberries and nutty oak, along with an amalgam of liquorice, spices, herbs and earth at the core. Medium-full bodied, the plate is finely concentrated with good depth of ripe blackberry and blueberry fruit flavours melded with notes of liquorice, spices and subtle earth elements. The fruit is bright and vibrant, and the mouthfeel juicy and lively. Fine-grained powdery tannins provide plenty of structure and grip, with integrated acidity lending a degree of softness. The wine carries to a concentrated and sustained finish of black and blue fruits. This is a finely concentrated and structured Petite Sirah with juicy and spicy blackberry and blueberry fruit flavours. Match with roasted and grilled game meat dishes over the next 5+ years. 81% Petite Sirah, 7% Merlot, 5% Barbera, 5% Tempranillo and 2% Malbec, fruit predominantly from the ‘Lake Winchester’ vineyard, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 14 months in 40% French, 40% American and 20% Hungarian oak. Winemaker: Greg Kitchens. 18.0-/20 Jan 2017 RRP $25.00
