The Crusher California Petite Sirah 2015

Other Red from USA
Review Date : 31-Jan-2018
Dark, deep, near impenetrable, black-hued purple-red colour. The nose is full and deep with aromas of ripe blackberry fruit with mulberry and blackcurrant notes with some tar and black minerals. Full-bodied, the palate is fulsome with rich and sweetly-fruited, ripe flavours of blackberries, mulberries, black plums, and tar and mineral notes, unfolding hints of blackcurrants. The mouthfeel is solid, but plush with fine, grainy tannin underlining the fruit, and soft, ripe acidity lending some roundness. The wine carries to a long, soft-textured finish with liquorice elements. The is a sweet-fruited and fulsome Petit Sirah with blackberry, plum, mulberry, currant and tarry flavours on a fine, textured palate. Match with slow-cooked game meat and casseroles over the next 4 years. California fruit, including that from Clarksburg and Lodi, a blend of 85% Petite Sirah, 6% Merlot, 4% Zinfandel, 3% Tempranillo and 1% each Carignan and Mourvedre, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 12 months 40% each French and American oak, and 20% Hungarian. 17.5/20 Jan 2018 RRP $30.00
