The Cabbage Tree Vineyard Martinborough Semillon 2011

Semillon from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 12-Oct-2013
Bright, light golden-straw yellow colour with some depth, lighter on rim. The bouquet is restrained in fruit expression but has depth and density building to show a core of tropical fruits melded with yellow stonefruits, herbs and nutty elements. A little reduction is noticeable with oak emerging. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, this has good presence of waxy, tropical fruits, green stonefruits and herbs, lifted with oak. The mouthfeel has a crisp and slippery raciness and an underlying oiliness of texture, adding to the weight and the flavours flow to a dry, textured and brisk finish with herb flavours. This is a subtle-flavoured dry Semillon with weight and density. Match with poultry and pork dishes over the next 3-4+ years. Hand-picked fruit fully fermented in seasoned French oak to 13.1% alc., the wine aged on lees in barrel for 22 months. 16.5+/20 Oct 2013 RRP $28.00
