The Black Chook McLaren Vale Shiraz 2012

Syrah from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 19-Aug-2013
Very full, saturated black-ruby colour with purple hues. The nose is full and somewhat restrained, but showing fully-ripened black berry and black plum aromas with an underlying dark herb, spice and pepper amalgam, revealing earth and cedar nuances. Full-bodied, broad in presence and mouthfilling with soft, sweet fleshy flavours of black plums and black berry jam, this had weight and a solid mouthfeel. Fine, grainy tannins are in support with balanced acidity, and the palate flows with lively fruitiness and a degree of lusciousness, leading to a toasty, black-fruited finish. This is a full-bodied, well-packed, black plum fruited Shiraz with sweetness and life on the palate. Match with barbecued and roasted red meat dishes over the next 4+ years. McLaren Vale fruit fermented to 14.5% alc. RRP $27.50
