The Black Chook McLaren Vale/Padthaway Shiraz 2013

Syrah from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 23-Jul-2014
Very full, saturated black-hued purple-red colour. The nose is softly full with aromas of ripe black berries, plums and peppery fruit, unfolding nuances of boysenberry jam and chocolate. Full-bodied, up-front, sweetly ripe black fruits, boysenberries, jam and black pepper fill the front palate with juicy and plush flavours. The extraction and acidity are soft, providing a rounded mouthfeel. As the wine flows, the tannin presence builds, carrying the flavours to a soft, dry, light finish. This is a plush and up-front, sweet-fruited and jammy Shiraz with a light, textural finish. Match with pizza, barbecued and roasted red meats over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from McLaren Vale and Padthaway, Shiraz co-fermented with a small amount of Viognier skins to 14.5% alc. 16.5+/20 Jul 2014 RRP $20.00
