The Better Half Marlborough Pinot Noir 2016

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 01-Aug-2017
Ruby red colour with a dark heat and light purple hues on the rim. This has a fresh, elegantly concentrated nose with aromas of dark-red cherry and raspberry fruit entwined with dark herbs, unfolding some dark-red florals and raspberry liqueur notes. Medium-full bodied, the palate is fine and firmly concentrated with flavours of vibrant, dark-red cherry and raspberry fruit, along with lifted floral elements and nuances of dark herbs. The mouthfeel is taut and sinewy with a moderately deep core, and the fruit is supported by grainy tannin extraction with integrated acidity. The palate has good linearity and the flavours carry to a sustained finish of cherries and raspberries. This is an elegantly concentrated, firm and sinewy Pinot Noir with flavours of dark cherries and raspberries. Match with poultry and pork over the next 4 years. Fruit 80% from Hawksbury and 20% Wrekin, in the Southern Valleys, vines approx. 10 y.o., the wine fermented with 20% whole bunches to 13.5% alc., with approx. 20% of the wine given oak contact, this portion aged 10 months in barrel with some new wood influence. 17.5-/20 Aug 2017 RRP $23.99
