Terroir Wines ‘BDX’ Martinborough 2011

Blended Red from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 26-Feb-2017
Dark, deep, black-red colour with garnet hues, a little lighter on the rim. The bouquet is fine in proportion with well-ripened, aromatic black berry and plum fruits harmoniously entwined with spice notes, cedary oak. This is beautifully refined, integrated and has real intensity of fragrance. Medium-full bodied, the palate features an elegantly concentrated core with fine and firm flavours of sweetly ripened blackberry, blackcurrant and plum fruit, with notes of liquorice and spices, unveiling subtle layers of cedar and pencilly oak. The fruit is underlined by very fine-grained, powdery tannin extraction providing a refined structure that allows the fruit sweetness to prevail. The wine carries to an elegant, lingering, nuanced finish of black fruits and oak. This is a refined, concentrated Bordeaux-styled red with black berry and plum fruits, with cedary oak and very fine structure. Match with roasted red meats and semi-hard cheeses over the next 7-9 years. A blend with equal proportions of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, from vines from the former Benfield & Delamare property, fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 18 months in Hungarian and French oak barriques. 800 bottles made. 18.5+/20 Feb 2017 RRP $65.00
