Dark, deep red colour with black hues and slight garnet tints on the edge. The nose is well-concentrated with somewhat raw and brackish aromas of blackberries and blackcurrants along with notes of fresh herbs and stalky suggestions, along with exotic, cedary oak. Earth and spice aromas emerge with aeration. Medium-full bodied, this ha up-front, juicy and lively fruit flavours of blackcurrants with stalk and herb detail. The fruit is still showing a primary nature. The mouthfeel possesses firm, grainy tannin structure and fresh acidity, lending a vibrant and near-vigorous flow, leading to a moderately long, strong finish. This is an up-front, lively and vigorous Bordeaux-varietal blend with primary and somewhat raw blackcurrant and blackberry fruit, along with spicy oak and firm extraction. Seve with herb-marinated lamb and beef dishes over the next 7-8+ years. A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot from the former Benfield & Delamare property, fermented to 13.9% alc., the wine aged 36 months in seasoned French and new American oak. 696 bottles made. 18.0-/20 Feb 2017 RRP $55.00
