TerraVin ‘Te Ahu’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2012

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 04-Feb-2015
Fruit from 97% ‘Cowley Family Vineyard and 3% ‘THV’, indigenous yeast barrel-fermented to 14.3% alc. and 2.8 g/L RS, the wine aged 12-16 months in oak with no batonnage, avoiding MLF. Full, even, light golden hued straw-yellow colour. The bouquet is full and densely packed with integrated aromas of green stonefruits, secondary bean and asparagus nuanced elements and piquant herbs, melded with creamy, nutty barrel-ferment layers. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, soft and densely packed flavours of ripe green stonefruits and creamy, nutty oak form a deep, rich and sweet core. Layers of rich, creamy, nutty oak add to the depth. The secondary bean elements show with aromatic herbs, lending detail and interest. The palate flows along a luscious line with fresh lacy acidity in the background, and carries to a very smooth, long lingering finish. This is a rich and lush, creamy, oak-influenced Sauvignon Blanc with green stonefruit flavours and some secondary development appearing. Match with herb-marinated poultry and pork dishes over the next 3+ years. 18.5/20 Feb 2015 RRP $40.00
