TerraVin Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2011

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 28-Sep-2012
Brilliant straw-yellow colour with slight green hues on edge. Fresh, intensely deep and robustly brackish aromas of gooseberries, fresh herbs and limes are lifted by exotic aromatics and esters. The nose is still youthfully raw, needing a little time to come together. Dry and full-bodied on palate, this has concentrated flavours of gooseberry fruits with ripe capsicum notes. The wine combines lusciousness, lively acidity and fulsome mouthfeel, underlined by a little textural grip along the palate line. The structure carries the fruit to a firm, dry, robust finish. This is a fulsome Sauvignon Blanc with juicy fruit flavours allied to some texture. It will benefit with another year in bottle and will drink well for another 2+ years. Serve with poultry, pork and Asian fare. Fruit from the ‘Calrossie' vineyard in Dashwood and the ‘Cowley' vineyard in Ben Morven, fermented in stainless-steel, with 18% wild fermented in seasoned French barrels to 13.14% alc. and 4.1 g/L rs, the barrel portion aged in oak for 8 months. 18.0/20 Sep 2012 RRP $26.50
