TerraVin Marlborough Chardonnay 2013

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 04-Feb-2015
Bright, even, light golden hued straw-yellow colour with some depth. The nose is initially restrained in expression, but shows a soft and deeply concentrated heart of ripe citrus and yellow stonefruit aromas melded harmoniously with complexing mealy, nutty and creamy barrel-ferment layers, revealing toasty elements. Medium-full bodied, soft and richly packed flavours of citrus and stonefruits form a deep amalgam with creamy, nutty oak. The richness grows lending the palate good presence, and the wine flows smoothly following a very fine-textured line, unfolding nuts and toasty oak interest. The acidity is discreet and integral. The plate carries through to a long, dry and elegant finish. This is a deep and softly concentrated Chardonnay with restrained flavours that reveals creamy and toasty complexities. Match with seafood, poultry and pork over the next 4-5 years. Fruit from 61% ‘Cowley Family Vineyard’ and 39% ‘THV’, indigenous yeast barrel-fermented to 14.1% alc, the wine aged 14 months in 14% new oak, with no batonnage, and approx. 25% MLF. 18.0+/20 Feb 2015 RRP $26.50
