TerraVin ‘Hillside Reserve’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2009

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 24-Aug-2011
Clones 667, 777, Abel, 5 and 10/5 from the ‘Eaton' and ‘Cowley' vineyards in the Southern Valleys fully destemmed and given a cold soak, then indigenous yeast fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 16 months in French oak. Full, dark, deep ruby-red colour, this has a full, powerful nose packed with well-ripened dark berry fruit aromas with plum and liquorice elements, along with spices and oak. Full-bodied, this has rich and densely concentrated flavours of black and dark red fruits, spices and some oak cedar. The wine has full tannin structure, but sufficiently supple to provide a rounded and plump mouthfeel, and balanced acidity contributes to liveliness and a long finish of sweet plum and cedar flavours. A fulsome wine to serve with grilled and roasted pork, lamb and beef dishes over the next 6-8 years. 160 cases made. 18.5+/20 Aug 2011 RRP $60.00
