TerraVin ‘Hillside Reserve’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2006

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 07-Apr-2012
Light ruby-garnet colour, pale on edge. This has an intense, elegantly proportioned nose with fragrant red fruits complexed by secondary nuances of game and forest-floor and oak spices. Medium-bodied, this is still tight and concentrated with lovely sweet red berry fruits and floral elements, framed on a flowing, sleek and silky-textured palate. There is an underlying richness and food freshness from the acidity, the secondary development hardly showing on taste. The finesse of this wine is reminiscent of the wines of Chambolle-Musigny. Keep for 4-5+ years.  18.5/20  Apr 2012 Garnet red in colour with a powerful and complex secondary influenced bouquet, with savoury dark fruits and earth showing. This was a wine with excellent substance on impact, fleshy and lively still, the flavours getting interesting, but also dissipating a touch on the finish. Mike Eaton saw 2006 as an "optimal vintage”.  Dec 2010
