TerraVin ‘Hillside Reserve’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2005

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 07-Apr-2012
Full, dark ruby-red colour, even, a little garnet on edge. The bouquet is full and weighty, with deep aromas of savoury dark red berry fruit with game and dark herb elements underneath. The aromatics are a little restrained. On palate a medium-full bodied wine with plump dark plum and savoury game flavours unfolding to reveal sour cherry elements with a hint of earth and mushroom. The tannins are fin-grained, the acidity in balance, and wine has a harmonious mouthfeel. Drinking well now and over the next 3-4+ years, this has greater volume and size and is thus a little out of style compared with the other ‘Hillside Reserve' wines, probably a reflection of the cooler, low yield vintage.  18.0+/20  Apr 2012
