Terrace Edge Waipara Valley Pinot Noir 2015

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 19-Feb-2018
Even, dark ruby-red colour with some youthful purple hues, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is elegantly presented with bright and fragrant primary aromas of dark-red cherry fruit and an amalgam with an array of red and violet florals and subtle cinnamon spice notes with nuances of dark herbs at the core. Medium-bodied, the palate is fine and elegant in proportion with tightly bound but succulent flavours of spiced red cherries melded with fragrant red and violet florals and a subtle line of aromatic, dark herbs. The tannins are refined in extraction lending a supple-textured mouthfeel, and the palate has softly ripe, integrated acidity. The wine flows seamlessly and carries to a very ling, lingering, fragrant finish of cherries, florals and spice. This is a beautifully aromatic and refined Pinot Noir with succulent cherry fruit and an array of florals. Match with Asian duck dishes over the next 5+ years. Hand-picked fruit, clones 777, 667, 115, 5 and Abel from vines planted in 2002, fully destemmed and indigenous yeast fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine spending 3 weeks on skins post ferment and aged 12 months in 25% new French oak. 19.0-/20 Oct 2016 RRP $28.95
