Terrace Edge Waipara Valley Pinot Noir 2014

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 10-Nov-2015
Moderately dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour, a little lighter on the rim, youthful in appearance. The nose is elegant in proportion with aromas of dark red berry and black cherry fruit entwined with subtle herbal and peppery notes and nutty, seasoned oak nuances. The aromatics build to form a firm core. Medium-full bodied, bright and upfront, juicy fruit flavours of dark red berry and cherry fruit are enlivened by fresh, lacy acidity. The mouthfeel has good vigour with fine, grainy tannin extraction and structure underlining the fruit. The wine has plenty of energy and drive, carrying the flavours of red fruits, herbs and savoury, nutty oak to a brisk, textured finish. This is a fresh, youthful and vigorous Pinot Noir with juicy dark fruit, grainy structure and fresh acidity. Match with poultry and pork, and with Asian cuisine over the next 3-4+ years. Hand-picked fruit, clones 777, 667, 115, 5 and Abel from vines planted in 2002, fully destemmed, given a cold soak and indigenous yeast fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine spending 3 weeks on skins post ferment and aged 12 months in French oak. 17.5/20 Nov 2015 RRP $28.95 Disclaimer: This wine is distributed by ‘Wine2Trade’, the company under which ‘Raymond Chan Wine Reviews’ operates
