Terrace Edge Waipara Valley Pinot Noir 2012

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 08-Oct-2013
Very dark, deep, black-hued ruby red with lighter purple edge. This has a beautifully fragrant nose with bright, primary fruit aromas of dark red cherries and berryfruits, lifted with red florals, a touch of herbs and whole berry pastille nuances all finely integrated and harmoniously presented. Medium-bodied and elegant in proportion, this is a fine of perfume and finesse, showing vibrant, aromatically lifted red cherry and berry fruit flavours forming a refined, tight core. The fruit is supported by very fine-grained, flowery tannins providing a supple, sinewy line. Fresh, lacy background acidity adds vitality and a little raciness to the bright, near succulent fruit. The vibrancy of the palate is carried to a very long, lingering finish with floral and spice elements. This is a very elegant and refined Pinot Noir with fragrance, freshness and finesse. Serve with poultry, pork and Asian cuisine over the next 5-6 years. Abel, 777, 667, 115 and clone 5 fruit from vines planted in 2002, hand-picked and fully destemmed, given a cold soak and indigenous yeast fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine spending 20-28 days on skins and aged 11 months in 25% new French oak barriques. 18.5/20 Oct 2013 RRP $30.95 Disclaimer: This wine is distributed by ‘Wine2Trade’, the company under which ‘Raymond Chan Wine Reviews’ operates
