Terrace Edge Waipara Valley Pinot Gris 2016

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 21-Dec-2016
Full, light golden-yellow colour with slight green hues and some depth, lighter on the rim. The nose is full, soft and densely packed unfolding layers of opulently ripe yellow stonefruits and tropical fruit aromas entwined with yellow florals, honey, and nuances of nuts and minerals. Medium-dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate is rich and weighty with plenty of mouthfeel and presence, showing soft and densely concentrated flavours of ripe yellow stonefruits, tropical fruits, honey, with notes of florals, musk, nuts and minerals. The palate has suggestions of unctuousness and has some underlying alcohol drive, and the wine flows along a fine phenolic line with integrated acidity. The wine carries to a strong, rounded, but concentrated finish of stonefruits, honey and musk. This is a rich, densely packed, opulent medium-dry Pinot Gris with power and weight, and flavours of ripe stonefruits, tropical fruits, honey and florals. Match with mildly spicy Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 4+ years. Hand-picked fruit, 60% fermented in season oak and 40% tank-fermented to 13.5% alc. and 14 g/L RS, the wine undergoing batonnage. 19.0/20 Dec 2016 RRP $27.00 Disclaimer: This wine is distributed by ‘Wine2Trade’, the company under which ‘Raymond Chan Wine Reviews’ operates
