Terrace Edge Waipara Valley Pinot Gris 2015

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 22-Feb-2016
Bright straw-yellow colour with pale golden hues, lighter on the rim. The nose is full and solidly packed with aromas of ripe yellow stonefruits entwined with tropical fruits, exotic yellow florals, honeysuckle and layers of harmoniously melded nutty and flinty complexities. The aromatics are harmoniously presented with plenty of presence. Medium is sweetness and full-bodied, the palate features a well-concentrated and deep core of ripe yellow stonefruits melded with honey, tropical fruits along with subtle layers of flinty lees complexities and nuts. The fruit is still youthfully restrained, but unfolds nuances of florals and musk. Soft acidity enhances the creamy, near unctuous mouthfeel, and the wine exudes a degree of lusciousness and opulence. The wine flows positively to a soft-textured, rich, lingering finish of stonefruits honey and flint. This is a fulsome, rich and plush, medium Pinot Gris with opulent stonefruit and honied flavours and subtle flinty complexities. Match with Middle Eastern and Asian cuisine over the next 4+ years. Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Terrace Edge’ vineyard, WBP and indigenous yeast fermented, 60% in seasoned French oak to 14.3% alc. and 15.5 g/L RS, the wine undergoing batonnage. 19.0-/20 Feb 2016 RRP $27.00 Disclaimer: This wine is distributed by ‘Wine2Trade’, the company under which ‘Raymond Chan Wine Reviews’ operates
