Terrace Edge Waipara Valley Late-Picked Riesling 2011

Sweet Wine from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 07-Nov-2012
Hand-picked fruit with 25% of the berries raisined by botrytis, indigenous yeast fermented to 11.0% alc. and 70 g/L rs. Bright, light golden-hued straw-yellow colour, pale on edge. The nose is softly full and gently voluminous with ripe lime fruit aromas harmoniously interwoven with layers of marmalade, raisins and honey, along with flinty minerality. Sweet to taste, gentle, but densely packed flavours of ripe limes, honey, exotic jasmine and apricots unfold in waves of richness. The mouthfeel is weighty, soft and rounded, with the acidity in the background. The flavours build to fill the palate and carry through to a very long and sustained finish showing some alcohol warmth and drive and complex wild honey and mineral notes. This is a soft and gently honied and harmonious sweet Riesling to serve with baked desserts, or to sip on its own on a sunny afternoon. Enjoy over the next 4+ years. 18.5/20 Nov 2012 RRP $26.95 Disclaimer: This wine is distributed by ‘Wine2Trade', the company under which ‘Raymond Chan Wine Reviews' operates
