Made by Belinda Gould, the winemaker at Muddy Water winery, this was whole bunch pressed and fermented with native yeasts in seasoned oak to 14.0% alc., leaving 14.0 g/L rs. Batonnage was employed to add complexity. Light straw-yellow with golden hues to the colour, this has a voluminous, honied nose showing stonefruits and spices, almost late-harvest in style. Off-dry on palate, this has flavours of pineapple with tropical fruits and spiced pears. There is a firm tightness to the mouthfeel, showing good concentration and line. But the flavours are now beginning to become decadent with an opulence. A little alcohol warmth adds to the presence.
