Terrace Edge ‘Liquid Geography’ Waipara Valley Riesling 2013

Riesling from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 06-Nov-2014
Bright straw-yellow colour with light green-gold hues. The bouquet is tight and restrained, but showing good depth and presence, with a complex amalgam of lime fruit, wet-stone minerals, flint and nuts and a subtle talc botrytis nuance. Medium in sweetness, the palate features discreet flavours of lime fruit, minerals and honeysuckle, which are complexed with delicate, botrytis-musk and toasty elements. The mouthfeel is one of soft concentration and density, suggesting unctuousness. The wine is well-balanced by fine, ripe, lacy acidity which underlines the fruit, providing energy and drive. As the wine flows, yellow floral and honey notes emerge and blossom on the moderately sustained finish. This is a soft and restrained, gently unctuous medium Riesling with subtle honey, musk and toasty flavours. Serve as an aperitif, with paté, and Asian or Middle Eastern fare over the next 4+ years. Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Terrace Edge’ vineyard with a small portion of botrytis infection, WBP and cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 11.5% alc., 36 g/L RS, TA 9.97 g/L and pH 3.25. 18.0/20 Nov 2014 RRP $21.95
