Terra Mia McLaren Vale Shiraz 2009

Syrah from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 20-Apr-2011
2009 was a low yielding vintage producing high quality fruit. Shiraz from ‘Block 20' and ‘Block 21' fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine aged 20 months in 60% French and 40% American oak hogsheads, of which 24% were new. Impenetrable, inky, black-red colour, this has a full, soft and dense nose of black fruits, black pepper, liquorice, dried herbs and plums and spicy, cedary oak. Full-bodied, the palate boasts a lovely, decadently rich fruitiness of ripe black berry and plum fruits with liquorice and pepper, gently laced with sweet oak. Serious, but fine-grained extraction provides the backbone and long finish that will see it age 8-10+ years. Serve with roasted game meat dishes. A classic, hearty, McLaren Vale Shiraz. 18.5/20 Apr 2011 RRP $21.99
