Tercius Tejo Touriga Nacional 2012

Other Red from Portugal
Review Date : 10-Oct-2015
Very dark, near impenetrable black-hued ruby-red colour, a little lighter on the rim. This has a full bouquet with deep and well-concentrated aromas of dark-red and black berried fruits harmoniously melded with earth, herbs and spices along with piquant lavender and violet floral elements. Medium-full bodied, this has upfront flavours of dark red and black berried fruits entwined with layers of earth and a suggestion of leather, unfolding aromas of florals and lavender. The fruit forms a soft and positive core and the mouthfeel has weight and presence. Fine-grained, powdery tannin extraction underlines the fruit, and soft, integrated acidity adds to the rounded textures. The wine carries to a soft, densely packed finish of earth, herbs and florals. This is a soft and densely packed Touriga Nacional wine with ripe black and red fruits with earthy notes and a lavender lift. Match with Mediterranean and Middle Eastern slow-cooked red meat dishes over the next 5+ years. Hand-picked Touriga Nacional from Tejo, undergoing a soak and fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 6 months in oak. 18.0-/20 Oct 2015 RRP $23.99
