Review Date : 26-Aug-2024
Deep purple with a ruby-red core, lighter on the rim. The nose is full and attractive, with vibrant aromas of blueberry, cherry cola, blue-violet and sweet spices. Medium-full bodied, aromas of blueberry and cherry cola melded with ripe plum, blue-violet, white pepper and baking spices. The fruit is youthful and succulent, supported by gentle, plump acidity. Smooth, ripe tannins lightly coated a silky mouthfeel, lending a moreish closing. This succulent, blue-fruited, silky Mataro is a bundle of joy. Serve slightly chilled and match with paella and barbeque lamb over the next 3 years. Fruit from One Tree Hill GI in the Mount Lofty Ranges, handpicked, destemmed, fermented in temperature-controlled open-top fermenters, 5 days on skins, basket pressed to stainless steel for 12 months.
