Telmo Rodriguez ‘Matallana’ Ribera del Duero 2006

Tempranillo from Spain
Review Date : 18-Mar-2011
Very dense, dark black-red in colour, this is a study of finesse, with its very tight and concentrated black fruited bouquet, aromatic nuance and subtle savoury complexities, backed by fine lifted new oak. On palate, the sheer refinement of the immense extract is the feature. The tannins are incredibly fine, and allow the richness of the ripe black fruits to shine. A beautifully constructed wine with great balance of its componentry. This will age 15-20 years. Made from 100% bush vine Tinto Fino (Tempranillo), selected from different sites in the Ribera del Duero, and fermented to 15.0% alc., then aged 15-18 months in 100% new French oak barrels. RRP $196.00  Mar 2011
