Oenologist Telmo Rodriguez's passion is to bring attention to the traditional Spanish varieties that are in danger of being forgotten in this modern wine world. Thought to be the same as Verdelho, Godello is the most highly regarded variety of the Valdeorras region. This is made from fruit from ‘La Falcoeira' some 20% from bush vines, fermented to 13.5% alc., with no oak contact. Brilliant lemon-straw colour with a pale edge, this has a fresh, lifted, attractively vibrant bouquet of citrus and tropical fruits, herbs and minerals. Dry to taste, the wine displays flavours of white stonefruits, herbs and nuts, on a soft, but well-concentrated palate that is balanced with fresh, racy acidity. The wine has lovely fruit nuances on the finish. A wine to serve with antipasto and subtle seafood dishes over the next 2-3 years. 17.5/20 Feb 2011 RRP $26.99
