Telmo Rodriguez ‘Altos de Lanzaga’ Rioja 2006

Tempranillo from Spain
Review Date : 18-Mar-2011
Made from 100% bush vine fruit, a blend of Tempranillo, Graciano and Garnacha from Lanziego de Alava in Rioja Alavesa, fermented to 14.5% alc., and aged 18 months in large oak and barriques. Very dark, youthful black-red with purple hues, this has a deep and ripe nose with huge volume and layers of ripe dark savoury red fruits unfolding with layers of herbs, game, spice and cedar. On palate, this is beautifully rich and fruity, but laced by powerful sweet and spicy, lifted oak. The tannin extraction is enormous, the wine with great breadth and concentration, yet the fruit is more than a match. Identifiably Rioja, this will last 20+ years. RRP $150.00  Mar 2011
