Te Whare Ra ‘Single Vineyard 5182’ ‘Toru’ Marlborough 2014

Blended White from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 15-Jan-2015
A field blend of Gewurztraminer, Riesling and Pinot Gris from the ‘TWR Home Block’, hand-picked and hand-sorted, various parcels destemmed, given skin contact and WBP, co-fermented in tank and seasoned large format oak to 13.8% alc. and 7.0 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees. 970 cases made. Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues. The bouquet is soft in expression with excellent vinous presence and a finely concentrated core that unfolds etheral rose-petal florals with exotic jasmine and lime aromas, expressed with a steely freshness. Off-dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is finely concentrated with an amalgam of lime fruit, minerals and rose-petal florals. The wine has a degree of unctuousness and richness, wonderfully balanced by refreshing, lacy acidity that lends cut and provides excellent linearity. The wine follows an underlying dry textural thread leading to a very long lingering finish that blooms in ethereal perfumes. This is a very elegant, finely balanced aromatic blend with ethereal perfumes, richness and steely freshness. Serve with Asian fare over the next 3-4 yeas. Certified BioGro organic. 18.5/20 Jan 2014 RRP $26.00
