Te Whare Ra ‘Single Vineyard 5182’ Marlborough Pinot Gris 2015

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 16-Oct-2016
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with suggestions of light-gold and a blush, paler edged. The nose is elegantly concentrated with aromas of white stonefruits in a complexing, harmonious amalgam of nuts and flinty nuances that build in intensity and depth while retaining freshness and finesse. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate is rich with complex flavours of white and yellow stonefruits layered with nutty, flinty and mineral notes. The wine is smooth-flowing and refined in texture, the fruit extract lending a soft phenolic grip and weight to the mouthfeel. The acidity is softly ripe and gently refreshing, and the wine carries easily to a concentrated, rounded, plush finish of stonefruit and minerals. This is a gently rich and plush dry Pinot Gris with white stonefruit flavours complexed by nuances of nuts, flint and minerals. Match with most white meat dishes over the next 4+ years. Hand-picked and sorted fruit from the ‘Home’ block, given some skin contact. 70% cool-fermented in stainless-steel, 30% fermented in large format neutral oak on lees, undergoing batonnage. The wine is 13.5% alc. and 3.5 g/L RS, the wine all aged on lees. Certified BioGro organic. 445 cases made. 18.5/20 Oct 2016 RRP $26.00
