Te Whare Ra Riesling ‘M’ 2020, Marlborough

Riesling from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 09-Nov-2020
Bright, light yellow, even colour throughout. A coy bouquet took a little time to open up, nuances of jasmine, pollen, citrus and nectarines slowly come through, unfolding zest and honey. Medium-dry to taste, medium-light bodied; a youthful sense of fruit, mandarins, nectarines melded with honey, pollen and jasmine. Citrus zest and pith reflect on a light phenolic grip. Mouthwatering acidity balanced by the sugar sweetness, hardly noticing the 27g/l residual sugar, provide liveliness and very moreish, lingers on a chalky textured palate. This is a youthful and bright Riesling with succulent fruit, generous acid with sugar balance in a medium-dry Mosel style with a lingering finish, very moreish. Match with crispy bacon at breakfast and crispy pork belly over the next 5 years. Fruit from TWR home block younger vines plus a small amount of the old block. Fermented in stainless steel to 10.2% alc, 27 g/l RS. Unfined. Organic certified, vegan friendly. 18/20 pts (90 pts) Nov 2020 RRP $28
