Te Whare Ra Marlborough Pinot Gris 2013

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 06-Jun-2014
Brilliant straw-yellow colour with a faint blush tinge. This has an elegantly proportioned, fresh nose with depth and intensity of concentrated white and yellow stonefruit aromas, revealing hints of minerals, spices and honeysuckle. The bouquet shows real vinous presence. Dry to taste and soft-textured, the palate features a dense core of white and yellow stonefruits, harmoniously integrated with honey and spice notes. The flavours open out and grow, and are driven by some alcoholic power, the acidity discreet, resulting in richness and accessibility. The palate leads to a sustained finish with restrained spice and honey nuances. This is an elegantly proportioned dry Pinot Gris with soft density and presence, with restrained flavours. Match with most white meat dishes over the next 4+ years. Berry-Smith clone fruit from the ‘TWR Home Block’ from 10+ y.o. vines, hand-picked, 60% stainless-steel fermented and 40% in seasoned oak, partially with indigenous yeasts to 13.7% alc. and 5 g/L RS, the barrel portion undergoing batonnage. Certified BioGro organic. 810 cases made. 18.5/20 Jun 2014 RRP $28.00
