Te Pa St Leonard’s Chardonnay 2018, Marlborough

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 17-Sep-2021
Bright, straw-yellow with some depth, slightly lighter edged. The nose is full, packed with rich aromas of roasted cashews underlined a hint of smoke, barrel spice, melded with lemon meringue. Full-bodied, the palate is vibrant, a taut core of lemon curd, interweave pineapple, apricot aromas, enriched by roasted cashews, citrus peels and vanilla. Lively, integrated acidity provides a vibrant drive, carries spices and emphasised nutty oak details. Subtle chalky texture added to the elegant mouthfeel. This is a harmonious Chardonnay with expressive features of bright fruit and toasty oak on an intense and persistent palate. Match with grilled tiger prawns and chicken with stuffing over the next 5-7 years. Fruit from St. Leonard's Vineyard, Central Wairau Valley. Handpicked, whole bunch pressed, fermented with high solids in barrel to 13.5% alc. Best barrel selections, 50% new, time in barrel 12 months approx, unfined, unfiltered. Vegan friendly. 19/20 pts (95 pts) Sept 2021 RRP $59.95
