Bright, pale straw-yellow, even colour throughout. The nose is softly full, elegantly presented, nuances of flint and spices entwined with pears and peaches along with a creamy note. Medium-bodied, aromas of Nashi pears, white peaches and citrus peels are lively, unfolding gunflint and five-spice. The mouthfeel is creamy with crisp acidity balance, five-spice linger and lifting the closing. This is a lush-fruited Pinot Gris with flinty detail of barrel-fermentation on a creamy palate. Match with pull pork and chicken yakitori over the next 3-4 years. Pinot Gris sourced from single vineyard Redwood Hills Awatere Vineyard. Handpicked fruit, whole bunch pressed, 60% fermented in seasoned barrels, left on gross lees for 4 months, 40% fermented in stainless steel, left on light lees for 4 months. 14.5% alc, 3.5 g/l RS.
