te Pa ‘Oke’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2015

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 10-Mar-2016
100% Sauvignon Blanc from the MacDonald family ‘Home’ vineyard, lower Wairau Valley, hand-picked, WBP and fully indigenous yeast barrel-fermented with full solids to 13.5% alc. and <2g/L RS, the wine aged 10 months in new and seasoned oak with batonnage, generally avoiding MLF. Bright straw-yellow colour with light green hues, lighter edged. The nose is elegantly presented with tightly bound and penetrating aromas of green stonefruits, greengages and nectarines entwined with notes of fresh herbs and complexing layers pf smoke, nuts and flint. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, this has a tightly concentrated and firm core of green stonefruits and nectarines interwoven with gooseberry, herb, spicy oak, smoke and flinty detail. The palate has a fine-textured phenolic line, and the mouthfeel is balanced by lively acid tension and energy enhancing the fruit sweetness. The wine carries to a long, juicy finish of green stonefruits, spice and smoke. This is an elegant and tightly concentrated oak-influenced Sauvignon Blanc with flavours of green stonefruits, spices and smoke, and a fresh, fine-textured palate. Serve with herb-marinated seafood and poultry over the next 3 years. 18.0/20 Mar 2016 RRP $29.99
