te Pa Marlborough Pinot Gris 2015

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 10-Mar-2016
Light, golden-hued straw-yellow colour with some depth, lighter on the edge. The nose is soft and gently concentrated with deep aromas of spicy yellow stonefruits entwined with pear, honeysuckle, and suggestions of exotic florals and piquant herbs, unfolding nuances of flinty lees. Off-dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate features a rich and rounded, well-packed heart with flavours of ripe yellow stonefruits, pears, honeysuckle and florals. The fruit is underlined by fine phenolic textures and driven by fresh, balanced acidity. The richness is allied to a suggestion of unctuousness and the wine carries to a sustained finish of florals and honeysuckle. This is a softly rich and rounded, off-dry Pinot Gris. Serve as an aperitif and with mildly spicy Asian fare over the next 3 years. Fruit from the company’s ‘Redwood Hills’ vineyard in the Awatere Valley, fermented in stainless-steel to 14.0% alc. and 5.5 g/L RS, the wine undergoing batonnage. 18.0/20 Mar 2016 RRP $19.99
