te Pa Marlborough Chardonnay 2015

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 07-Mar-2017
Bright light golden straw colour with lemon-green hues, a little lighter on the rim. This has a full bold and powerfully concentrated nose of white and yellow stonefruits melded with a layering of flinty reductive complexities, nutty and toasty oak, and creamy barrel-ferment and MLF aromas. This has a deep, integrated bouquet. Medium-full bodied, the palate is fulsome and up-front with intense flavours of white and yellow stonefruits, and citrus fruits entwined with gunflint reductive complexities, along with nutty, toasty oak and creamy barrel-ferment and MLF notes. The fruit builds in depth and underlined by a fine-textured framework with balancing acidity providing freshness. The wine carries to a strong, long lingering finish of stonefruits, flint and nutty oak. This is a bold, flavoursome Chardonnay with concentrated, complex flavours of stonefruits, gunflint and nutty, toasty oak. Match with grilled and roasted poultry, pork and veal dishes over the next 4+ years. The first release of a te Pa Chardonnay. Fruit from the Bedford Road vineyard, Wairau, hand-picked, WBP and indigenous yeast barrel-fermented to 13.3% alc., the wine spending 11 months on lees in 40% new oak barrels, undergoing approx. 50% MLF. 18.0/20 Mar 2017 RRP $29.99
