Te Mata ‘Zara’ Hawke’s Bay Viognier 2011

Viognier from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 12-Mar-2013
Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Woodthorpe Terraces’ vineyard, fermented to 13.5% alc. and aged 3 months on barrel. Bright, lemon-green hued straw-yellow colour, youthful in appearance. The bouquet has a refined core with interwoven aroma of exotic yellow florals and apricot fruit, along with citrus zest notes. This has purity of expression, with layers unfolding, revealing harmonious oak and herbal notes. Dry and medium-bodied, this is softly textured with a very gentle and smooth mouthfeel. The flavours are restrained and gently layered, showing yellow stonefruits, tropical fruits and herbs. The acidity is soft, but is sufficient to enliven the palate, which carries through to a moderately lingering rounded finish. Drink over the next 3-4+ years. 18.0-/20 Mar 2013 RRP $29.90
