Te Mata ‘Zara’ Hawke’s Bay Viognier 2010

Viognier from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 08-Mar-2012
Bright, light straw-golden colour with a pale rim, the bouquet is soft and full with integrated aromas of exotic florals and musk and notes of herbs. Dry to taste, fruit flavours of apricots, jasmine florals and ginger blossom with richness, forming a soft, unctuous mouthfilling texture. The richness is enhanced by soft acidity, but there is alcohol power and drive, the palate showing a little heat. Oaking is very sensitive, and the fruit is the feature, especially on the soft, long apricot and , ginger nuanced finish. Fruit from the ‘Woodthorpe Terraces' vineyard, the majority barrel-fermented in seasoned French oak to 14.5% alc. All of the wine was matured in oak for 3 months following blending. Serve with seafood and Asian cuisine over the next 3-4+ years. 18.0+/20 Mar 2012 RRP $32.50
