Very dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red, youthful in appearance. The nose is elegantly proportioned with concentrated and intense aromas of richly ripe blackberry and raspberry fruit, lifted with bright yellow floral notes from the Viognier. Red and black florals and some black pepper elements add interest. The oaking is integrated and subtle. Medium-bodied, rich, sweet concentrated flavours of ripe black berried fruits are lifted by aromatic raspberry notes. Black pepper, exotic florals and spices emerge from the heart. The tannin extraction is very fine-grained lending a supple mouthfeel, and the wine is enlivened by elevated acidity. This has good energy and tension, and the wine carries to a soft, densely packed, lingering finish. This has accessibility as well as the potential to evolve over the next 4-5 years. Syrah fruit from the Woodthorpe Terraces and Bridge Pa Triangle, destemmed and co-fermented with a small amount of Viognier to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 7 months in new and seasoned French oak. 18.0/20 Feb 2015 RRP $18.00
