46% Merlot, 23% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Cabernet Franc and 14% Pertit Verdot from Bridge Pa, Havelock Hills and the ‘Woodthorpe Terraces’, fermented to 13.5% alc/ the wine aged 19 months in new and seasoned French oak barrels. Moderately dark ruby-red colour with some depth. The bouquet is Merlot expressive with aromas of savoury and earthy plums, along with dried herb and tobacco elements. Attractive black berry and curranty notes unfold, along with secondary cedar oak spices. Medium-bodied and elegantly proportioned, this mouthfeel is tight and firm. Flavours of spiced plums and dried herb flavours feature, with acid drive. The oaking is prominent and encases the fruit somewhat. This has richness and sweetness within the firmness and grainy textures. A wine that will develop over the next 4-5 years. 17.5-/20 Mar 2013 RRP $19.90
