Te Mata ‘Estate Vineyards’ Hawke’s Bay Gamay Noir 2014

Gamay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 05-Mar-2015
A single vineyard wine, fruit from the Woodthorpe Terraces, 50% undergoing carbonic maceration and 50% traditionally fermented to 13.0% alc, the wine aged3 months in seasoned French oak. Bright, moderately deep, purple-hued red colour, youthful in appearance. The nose is fresh with tight and intensely concentrated aromatic fruit aromas of red and black cherry fruit lifted by whole berry fermentation confectionary and red floral notes. This is very primary. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate features a good core of concentrated dark cherry fruits lifted by confectionary notes. The mouthfeel is rounded and smooth and flows with slipperiness. This is supple and juicy, with refreshing acidity that carries the wine to a esters lifted finish. Vibrant and aromatically fruity, drink over the next 2 years. 17.5-/20 Mar 2015 RRP $18.00 Pale purple-red colour, as dark rosé. The nose is elegantly lifted with youthful fermentation esters and whole berry confectionary notes infusing strawberry, raspberry and red floral aromas. A hint herbs adds a refreshing element. Dry, medium-bodied, and bright fruited with strawberry and cherry flavours, this is light, and slender in presentation. Aromatic floral and fruit pastille notes lift the wine, and are enlivened by slightly elevated, mouthwatering acidity. This is a delightful, aromatic and zesty light red to enjoy over summer. Fruit from the Woodthorpe Terraces, 50% undergoing carbonic maceration and fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 3 months in seasoned French oak. 17.5-/20 Nov 2014 RRP $20.00
