Te Mata ‘Estate Vineyards’ Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2011

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 12-Mar-2013
Bright, very pale straw colour with slight lemon-green hues, pale on rim. The bouquet is tight and elegant , quite slender in expression, showing citrus and yellow stonefruit aromas along with nuts and buttery MLF unfolding as subtle layers, and building with depth. Medium-bodied, the palate is tightly bound, with citrus-like fruit and butterscotch MLF notes featuring. Bright, firm acidity adds a steeliness to meet the creaminess of barrel-ferment and MLF conversion. The firmness results in linear drive and a tight textural line. This has the potential to develop richness over the next 4+ years. Fruit from the ‘Woodthorpe Terraces’, Bridge Pa Triangle and Havelock Hills vineyards with partial WBP, approx. one-third barrel-fermentation and 25% MLF. Around two-thirds was aged in barrel for 10 months. 13.0% alc. 17.0+/20 Mar 2013 RRP $19.90
