Te Mata ‘Elston’ Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2007

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 27-Jul-2014
Bright, light golden colour with pale lemon on rim. The nose is tightly bound and shy, with concentrated white stonefruit aromas with subtle nutty complexities. Very elegant and finely concentrated, the palate is tight and restrained, quite youthful with a classy core of white stonefruits, minerals and nutty oak. The wine features a fine-textured line with subtle power, and excellent acid freshness and cut. This has class, refinement and a cool elegance. This will still keep another 4-5 years. 18.5+/20 Jul 2014 RRP $N/A Full, even, light golden-yellow colour with some depth. This has a full, powerfully deep and concentrated bouquet with integrated and balanced aromas of yellow stonefruits, peaches, citrus and tropical fruits, along with mealy, toasty oak and nutty complexities. Medium-full bodied, this has elegance and a tight core, underlined by a little alcoholic power and fruit drive. Roasted stonefruits, toasted nuts ripe tropical fruits merge with creamy barrel-ferment notes. The palate line is enhanced by good acidity, carrying the flavours to a light, long, nutty finish. This Chardonnay is drinking on its plateau, and shows a bold bouquet. Keep another 3+ years. Hand-picked fruit, WBP and fermented in new and seasoned French oak to 14.0% alc, the win-e aged 9 months in oak with lees contact and 100% MLF. 18.5+/20 Mar 2014 RRP $N/A
