Te Mata ‘Coleraine’ Hawke’s Bay 2008

Cabernet Sauvignon from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 08-Mar-2012
53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot and 19% Cabernet Franc, 13.5% alc. Very full, near saturated black-red colour with youthful purple hues, ripe and pure blackcurrant fruit aromas show with intensity and real concentration, the nose becoming voluminous. Full-bodied, densely concentrated and solid in structure, fresh black berry and plum fruit flavours fill the palate. Oaking is very subtle and adds some sweet spice. The extraction is serious, matching the depth of fruit. The tannins are very refined however, and the substance of this fulsome, powerful and near backward wine suggests another 10-12+ years aging ability ahead. This has grown in stature with time in the bottle. 19.0+/20 Mar 2012
