Brilliant straw-yellow with some depth. This has a tightly held bouquet with aromas of green stonefruuits with grassy, herbal and subtle spice notes. The aromatics are intense and deep. Tightly bound on palate, up-front and fulsome grassy fruit flavours show a cooler side to the nectarines and greengage fruit. Oaking is integral, and a dry, phenolic line carries the wine to a flavoursome finish. This is a flavoursome, up-front and forward style with some cooler aspects. 4+ years ahead. 86% Sauvignon Blanc, 9% Semillon and 5% Sauvignon Gris. 18.5-/20Jul 2014 RRP $N/A Bright, pale straw-yellow colour. The bouquet is full and integrated, with evenly intermixed aromas of passionfruit, green stonefruits, gooseberries and suggestions of secondary green bean development along with barrel-ferment elements. Dry and medium-bodied, flavours of nectarines, herbs and beans are melded smoothly with barrel-ferment notes. This is sweet-fruited, and softly textured with a slippery mouthfeel enhanced by good acidity. The palate is up-front and accessible and this will be an earlier maturing ‘Cape Crest’. Drink over the next 2-4 years. 86% Sauvignon Blanc, 9% Semillon and 5% Sauvignon Gris, hand-picked, given skin contact and fermented in new and seasoned French oak to 13.5% alc., the wine given batonnage for 8 months and a further 2 months on fine lees. 18.0/20 Mar 2014 RRP $29.90 Bright, light straw-yellow colour with green hues, lighter on rim. The bouquet is very fresh with gooseberry, fresh herb and spicy nectarine fruit aromas and restrained, balanced oaking. Though tight and with elegance, this has intensity and concentration. Dry and medium-bodied, intense and penetrating flavours of cool, gooseberry fruits, stonefruits and oak spices and nutty notes are enlivened by bright, lacy acidity. The textures are very fine and match the slender proportions. This has excellent vitality and drive with great cut, and a very long finish. Estate fruit, 86% Sauvignon Blanc, 9% Semillon and 5% Sauvignon Gris, given some skin contact and fully barrel-fermented in new and seasoned French oak to 13.5% alc., the wine aged a total of 10 months on lees with batonnage.
