Te Mata ‘Bullnose’ Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2012

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 07-Mar-2014
Syrah from the ‘Bullnose’ vineyard, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 15 months in new and seasoned French oak barriques. Very dark black-red colour with some purple hues on rim. The bouquet is elegantly presented and very attractively aromatic with lifted violet and spicy perfumes intermixed with black fruits and black pepper. This has ripeness and fragrance. Medium-bodied, the palate is elegant and stylishly proportion with fine and aromatic black fruits, black and white pepper, spices and oak elements adding lift. The mouthfeel is one of finesse, with fine-grained, supple tannins and piquant acidity adding to the liveliness. This has detail and growing interest and intensity that carries through to a sustained finish. An elegant and aromatically detailed Syrah. 5-6+ years. 18.5+/20 Mar 2014 RRP $49.00
