Te Mata ‘Bullnose’ Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2010

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 08-Mar-2012
Very dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour, very youthful in appearance. The nose is very tightly concentrated with aromas of black berry fruits, black pepper with dark violet florals and a complexing dusty, iron-earth and mineral note. This is well-ripened fruit, and spiced with hints of bacon and oak char, adding extra interest. Medium-bodied, with an elegant presentation, spicy black fruits with floral, tar and earthy layers are underlined by very fine, powdery tannins and lacy acidity, resulting in a very smooth, silky textured palate. The fruit richness is matched by the structure and fresh acid to give ‘puissance' and lively grip, with great finesse. A soft, long finish of spices and florals completes the wine. Fruit from the ‘Bullnose' vineyard from 20 y.o. vines fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 15 months in new and seasoned French oak. This will keep 8-10 years. 19.0-/20 Mar 2012 RRP $52.50
